Quebec Selected Immigration
The Province of Quebec is the largest Canadian province in size and is second after
Ontario in population. It has a special agreement with the Federal Government of
Canada to select immigrants that best fit its immigration requirements. There is
a separate evaluation process for any individual intending to settle in Québec,
which includes |

- Students - permanent immigration
- Temporary workers - permanent immigration
- Families
- Sponsored refugees
Skilled Worker / Professional applicants intending to reside in the Province of
Quebec must first apply to the Quebec government for a Certificat de Sélection du
Québec (CSQ). After been selected by Quebec, you have to make a separate application
to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for permanent residence. A Visa Officer
will assess your application based on Canadian immigration regulations. However,
it should be noted that Quebec Skilled Workers are not assessed on the six selection
factors of the federal skilled workers Program.
To qualify for a Quebec Selection Certificate, Skilled Worker / Professional applicants
must score enough points under the Quebec Immigration selection system below. A
single applicant must score at least 60 points. An applicant with a spouse or common-law/conjugal
partner must score at least 68 points.
The Quebec Immigration selection criteria may be summarized as follows:
Education Up to 19 points
Employment Up to 15 points (Min. requirement: 8 points)
Work Experience Up to 10 points (Min. requirement: 1 point)
Age Up to 10 points
Language Proficiency Up to 24 points
Visits in and Ties with Quebec Up to 9 points
Spouse's Characteristics Up to 17 points
Presence of Accompanying Children Up to 8 points
Financial Autonomy 1 point (Minimum requirement: 1 point)
Adaptability Up to 10 points
Skilled Worker / Professional applicants must then successfully complete medical
and security examinations conducted by the Canadian government in order to be granted
a Canadian Immigration (Permanent Resident) Visa.
